FinCon 2018

October 3, 2018

I just finished attending FinCon 2018. FinCon 2018 is the Financial Bloggers Conference that is held annually here in the US. It is held in different cities every year, this year it was held in Orlando, Florida.

When I first heard about the conference I thought, being the frugal guy that I am, that I would combine the conference and a little vacation into one. Well that is what we did. I headed out there early to attend my classes.

10 Things Nobody Will Ever Tell You That You Need To Do To Invest In Real Estate.

We usually travel with my in-laws so they came along to make the journey complete. I did not end up going to one of the classes right after lunch on Friday so I picked up everyone from the airport. That saved them the Uber ride from the airport. I took them to the AirBnB and then Gloria dropped me off back at the Rosen Conference Center across the street.

Saturday was the last day. It was one of my best days at the conference. There was a class with the cast and crew of a documentary that is coming out probably next year. It is called Playing with FIRE. The cast includes Mr. Money Mustache, Paula Pant, The Mad FIentist, and several other people who are big in the FIRE movement.

FIRE is Financial Independence Retire Early. More on that next week. But what was really cool was that I was sitting next to Paula Pant’s Father during this session. I kinda Geeked out and told him that he had a great daughter and that she had influenced me over the last few years. He was a very pleasant gentleman and he thanked me for my kind words about his daughter.

So what did I learn in all these classes about blogging, funnels, free giveaways, traffic counts, facebook groups, ads, organic traffic, paid traffic and a thousand other terms?? Well, I think more than anything else, I learned that I dont really know that much about blogging.

I do manage to blog every week or so. But from what everyone said at the conference, there is way more to it. Most bloggers advertise their website to get more traffic to lead more people to the blog itself. With the more subscribers, these guys offer online classes that they charge for.

The amount of content is important also. Weekly post is my goal. If I can get more done, I am ecstatic. It seems like lately it has been about every 10 days or more. Please believe me that I love to bring everyone great information.

I will try to have some very low cost classes for next year, but for right now, I just want to get out more free information on investing in real estate and being frugal.

The way that I have been able to invest in real estate while not making a bunch of money is that I always think to myself, “How can I do this, without spending lots of money?” I dont drive a fancy car. My wife and I are just finishing rehabbing our house a 1935 home that we purchased for a great price.

I just happen to invest in real estate while being a very frugal person.chase, chase sapphire, chase sapphire preferred, sapphire I dont like to spend money carelessly. You can look back at some of the posts to see what I am talking about. There are ways that you can get points through credit cards to be able to fly for very cheap or free. Last year we went to Germany and I got the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.  The card gave us about $500 in airline points!!!

My wife and I will try to take our next trip with only points. There are always restrictions and one of them was that you have to spend at least $4k in the first 3 months of opening the card. Between airline tickets from the Germany trip and spending on vacation we took care of that pretty quick. I also do rehabs and help people with their rehabs.

This makes it pretty easy to spend a bunch of money every month. If you think you can spend the requirement, I would highly recommend getting that card to get $500. I believe you need a 700 credit score. Also, the annual fee is high, $95, but you get the first year free. You can always get your $500, use the points, then cancel the card during the first year if you want to save the $95.

I will probably keep it because you also get double points on restaurants as well as travel and hospitality. When I use it at Home Depot and use my pro rewards account I not only get 2% back at home depot, but also 1% through my Chase Card.

When someone uses the link above and gets a Chase Card, they will get the $500 bonus and I will also get an extra $100!!! I can get 5 referrals per year. Not bad. That will more than cover the annual fee.

I just hope that I can teach you more ways to save some money while enjoying your life. There are always ways to do things enjoyably and not spend so much money. I never want to be cheap. I like to be Frugal. There is a big difference.

Hopefully I can share some more ways to be Frugal in the weeks and years to come. Please email me what you want to learn about concerning Real Estate or being Frugal. And dont forget to sign up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card here. Before you know it, you will have 90,000 points like me!! And you can transfer them to Hilton, Hyatt, Southwest, United and many others.
